People We’ve Lost: Celebrities Who Passed Away in 2012

Year 2012 brought us happiness, but it also brought us some grief because we’ve lost some important people, celebrities who were loved by millions of people from all over the world.

So, let’s take a moment and remember the people we’ve lost in 2012, celebrities we loved so much.

Etta James

Legendary Etta James passed away at the age of 73, on January 20, 2012, in a hospital in Riverside, because of some leukemia complications.

Etta James was diagnosed with leukemia in 2010 and she was also suffering from dementia and hepatitis C. She died a few days before her 74th birthday.

Over her career, Etta James beat her addiction to heroine, won six Grammy awards and she was added to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

 Whitney Houston

Singer Whitney Houston passed away at the age of 48, and the last part of her life was dominated by her struggle with drugs and depression.

Whitney passed away on February 12, 2012, at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills. The singer was found dead in the bathroom.

Whitney Houston was a singer, actress and movie producer. Her mother, Cissy Houston, often worked with Elvis Presley.

Singer Donna Summer ( The Queen of Disco Music ) passed away because of cancer.

Donna was 63 years old and she passed away in Florida. Donna tried to hide the fact that she was sick because she was trying to release a new album.

Robin Gibb

The Bee Gees singer, who was diagnosed with liver and colon cancer, passed away in 2012 at the age of 62.

He was hospitalized in London after his health deteriorated because of pneumonia. He showed signs of recovery as he slipped out of a coma but, eventually, he passed away on May 21, 2012.

Andy Griffith

Actor Andy Griffith, who became popular thanks to “The Andy Griffith Show” passed away on July 3, at the age of 86.

Born in North Carolina, Andy wanted to become an opera singer. By the end of the 40′s, Andy and his wife joined “The Ed Sullivan Show”.

He also starred in hit TV series “Matlock”. Andy was also an award winning gospel singer. The actor was married three times and had two children.

Neil Armstrong

Neil, the first man to walk on the moon, passed away on August 25, 2012, at the age of 82, because of some heart complications.

Neil Armstrong was part of the first U.S. mission on the Moon, and he landed aboard Apollo 11, with astronauts Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins.

Neil Armstrong was born on August 5, 1930 in Wapakoneta, Ohio, and he started his job at NASA in 1955.

Singer Andy Williams passed away because of cancer on September 26, 2012, at the age of 84.

Actor Gary Collins, passed away on October 14, 2012, at the age of 74, because of natural causes. Gary Collins was hospitalized in Biloxi 24 hours before his death.

Larry Hagman

Larry Hagman, the actor who played J.R. Ewing in “Dallas” passed away at the age of 81 because of cancer complications.

The actor passed away in the hospital in Dallas, and he was surrounded by close friends and family.

He was one of the most beloved actors in Hollywood and he played J.R. Ewing from 1978 until 1991 in the original “Dallas” series.

Jenni Rivera

Singer Jenni Rivera passed away on December 10, 2012, after her plane crashed in Mexico.

She was 43 years old and she passed away along with other six people who were aboard the Lear Jet plane. According to the authorities, the wreckage was found in the village of El Tejocote, 200 km’s from Monterrey.
